Location and Activities

  • Just over a mile from the famous "Bridge over the Atlantic", build in 1790.
  • Enjoy a drink or meal at one of the two local pubs on the Island of Seil.
  • 13 miles to Oban for full range of services and ferries.
  • 2 miles to Luing Island ferry and 3 miles to Easdale Island ferry.
  • Golf course close to the local shop.
  • In addition to the large garden around the cottage with many interesting plants and features, there are open gardens to visit at Ellenabeich and Armaddy.
  • Ellenabeich, a conservation area village, has a heritage centre museum.
  • Walking direct from cottage - many routes including east and west seafronts with views to Mull – suitable for a range of abilities.
  • Kayaking direct from garden to other small islands such as Torsa, Luing or Shuna.
  • Birdwatching from windows/garden.
  • Otter and seal watching. The Island of Seil is sometimes misspelt as the Island of Seal, although it derives from the word seal so indicative of their abundance.
  • The film "Ring of Bright Water" about otters was partly filmed on Seil Island.
  • Various archaeological sites.
  • The island has great geological interest including slate with fools gold and high dolerite dykes that punctuate the coast.
  • Fishing, sailing and cycling all around the island and adjoining mainland.
